The Cattle Trial
The Cattle Arena — The Containment Zone and the Four Roles
Four riders, one herd, two marked areas. The cutting rider works inside the containment zone with the nominated cow; the other three wait at the containment line, spread along it on the main-arena side, and do not cross into the zone while the cut is being made. The cut cow is driven from there to the demarcated area at the far end.

The plan is schematic. It is not drawn to either rulebook's dimensions, and it carries no dimension of its own — the two specifications are given separately below.

The cattle trial is timed and placed — never marked.
There is no 0–10 score anywhere in this trial. The clock starts as the cutting rider crosses the containment line, and the result is a time and a placing. Nothing on this plan is a mark.
