The five collective marks
Every exercise and every collective mark is scored out of ten. The five collective marks are added to the exercise marks to make the dressage score — and one of the five is the rider’s. Below: how far the five can carry a score.

Fig. 7.4 · The five collective marks
Five marks for the whole ride — the rider’s among them, and doubled where the test doubles the marks.
Every exercise and every collective mark is scored 0–10, half-marks allowed, then multiplied by a coefficient. In the WAWE Senior and Master tests each collective mark carries a coefficient of 1, so the five are 50 of the test’s 270 marks (the WAWE Junior test is the same at coefficient 1, over a shorter 240-mark test). The WAWE Young Riders test doubles four of them — Paces, Impulsion, Submission and the Rider at coefficient 2, Presentation at coefficient 1 — making the five 90 of 300 marks. Among the WAWE tests, only the Young Riders test doubles the collective marks. The Portuguese APSL tests apply a coefficient of 1 or 2 by category protocol; the APSL Masters test is the WAWE Seniors test. The Rider mark — the position and seat of the rider, and the correct and effective use of the aids — is also scored in the Ease of Handling trial.
